Crusader Axe

52426

The ax was the preferred weapon during the Crusades. Ricardo Corazón de León promoted its use, as did many men of arms, knights and peasants. Except for the great Danish ax, the battle ax was not yet fully developed. Most of the axes were used both in combat and in daily field tasks. This ax is reproduced from a photo of an old ax that was dated around 1150, but no information was given about the source or location. The blade is made of high carbon tempered steel with a hard wood handle.
