German sixteenth century war ax with gift banner


The ax known as Crow´s Peak used by the cavalry in southern Germany, was a 50 to 80 cm short weapon, which used to have a wooden handle. Its armed head was formed by a long, curved beak, which gave it its name, and an ax blade, lighter than normal.
